Welcome to the first edition of Self-Improvement Sunday. Most of you probably don?t know this, but I refuse to do more than a few minutes of business work on Sundays. Sundays are instead dedicated to spending time with friends, talking with family, reading up on news and books, and overall just learning more about what I need to do to improve my personal life.
So I want to take this Sunday to talk about potential. I realized lately that I?m maybe not doing as much as I could to succeed. Business is good. It?s fine. It?s profitable and it?s stable, but I have I reached my maximum potential? Hardly. My personal life is fine. I?m happy, relatively healthy, but have I?ve I got everything figured out? No.
To say that any of us will ever reach our full potential is impossible to say. Even when we think we?ve squeezed out every drop of juice from the lemon, there are probably a few more squeezes. What makes the difference is whether or not you are always squeezing that lemon for just a little more juice, or if you are okay missing a few drops or more.
Reaching a high attainable potential is difficult, at least I have found because it requires multiple steps. Effort, self-realization, and most of all ? lots of self-control. I recently posted about playing Diablo 3, and I played far too much already until I took a step away from the computer and realized that I was just wasting my time and in the end playing this game would probably be fruitless. A game here and there is fun for unwinding, but sometimes my game addictions go too far to an unhealthy level where it affects my personal and business potential. Constantly reviewing yourself and your performance, tagged with reminding myself where I was 5 years ago ? a broke ass college student going nowhere ? keeps me from losing my sights on where I could be.
So take this Sunday to sit back and analyze your life. Where are you wasting your time? How can you pull yourself away? How can you get in control of your destiny and reach out towards that furthest potential? Personally, I?ll be sticking to a schedule more tightly. I will only play a game after I finish the days goal lists and only when its well past normal business hours. I?ll be more talkative, open up and get out of my shell. And I will stop worrying about dating, women, and parties unless it can bring me more success in my personal and business life.
What will you do to better your chances of reaching your full potential?
